Alice Wilson Memorial Cup

Alice Wilson Memorial Cup

What a great night!

Education FC Warriors (mixed learning disability team) had their first ever football match, against Burton Joyce FC (Down Syndrome team). Playing at the Burton Joyce ground, EFC put up a valiant effort, but were beaten by the more experienced team, 4:2.
But they made up for it in the penalty shootout at the end, where some excellent goals were scored by both teams!

It was lovely to have Michael and Jeanette there to hand out the medals to all the players at the end. They also awarded the ‘Alice Wilson Memorial Cup’ to the winning team, in memory of their beautiful little girl, who had Down syndrome. She sadly passed away at birth, and will be celebrating her 1st birthday in heaven later this month.

37 fantastic players (24 with DS) and so many wonderful coaches and helpers gave their all on the pitch. And thank you to all the parents and supporters, plus 3 of EFC’s amazing sponsors – Frontline Recruitment GroupDudleys Hair and Beauty and The White Lion, Bramcote, who came to cheer the teams on.

Such a special night for everyone. A great opportunity to showcase the talent, and show the enjoyment of the players during Down Syndrome Awareness month.

Thank you to everyone involved!!!
