Why join us?

The support group has over 75 families registered from all over Nottinghamshire and is a good place to make friends with people in a similar situation to you, all having a child with Down's Syndrome in their family. Not all of these attend each monthly support group meeting, and many just attend the special events - we know how busy family life can be! So there is no obligation to attend each month, just the opportunity to, and take part in whatever activities appeal to your family.

Having a child with special needs in your family can, at times, be challenging, and having the support of other parents can be beneficial to all your family members. All the parents at the support group have a child with Down's Syndrome, and it is a great place to chat about how things are going, what your hopes and fears are, what experiences others have had, or how to tackle certain areas of life which may be new to you. We probably won't have all the answers but we may be able to discuss our experiences and offer mutual support.

The group is a place where children and young people with Down's Syndrome can go, feel safe and have a good time, as well as meeting other children with Down's Syndrome. It is also a great place for all of our children to meet other siblings, and share time together whilst taking part in the range of activities on offer. We appreciate the impact having a sibling with a disability can have on a child, so the support is as much for them as it is the children with Down's Syndrome.
